I chose this clip because I am a die-hard Mets fan, and the comeback in the 10th inning of Game 6 of the 1986 World Series is one of the greatest miracles in baseball history.
Down by 2 runs in the 10th inning of an elimination game; 2 strikes on Gary Carter, the Mets pieced together a remarkable and historical rally to force a Game 7. The radio call when Mookie Wilson slapped the ball down the 1st base line gives me chills every time I hear it. "Little roller up along first, behind the bag, IT GETS THROUGH BUCKNER, here comes Knight, and the Mets win it!!!!!!!!!"
The call was made by legendary sports caster Vin Scully on NBC. After making that legendary call, Scully said nothing for nearly 3 minutes after that play, allowing the pictures and sounds of the Shea Stadium crowd tell the remainder of the story. When he finally came back on air, Scully said "If one picture is worth a thousand words, you have seen about a million words, but more than that, you have seen an absolutely bizarre finish to Game 6 of the 1986 World Series. The Mets are not only alive, they are well, and they will play the Red Sox in Game 7 tomorrow!"
